Dr. Narayan Prasad Gaire

Faculty, Nepal

Department of Environmental Science, Golden Gate International College,

Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University

Narayan Gaire is a pioneer dendrochronologist from Nepal. He completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He has more than a decade research experience in the various aspects of dendrochronology like dendroclimatology, dendroecology, and forest ecology, treeline dynamics and impact of climate change in Nepal Himalaya. His current research focused mainly on climate change impacts on high elevation forests and vegetation in Nepal Himalaya and past climate reconstruction of Himalayan region. He has published more than 20 research articles in various reputed national and international journals including Nature Geoscience.

Vinod Kumar

Ph.D Scholar, India

Vinod works in the in Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at IISER Mohali, India. His current research interest is in OH Reactivity measurement using comparative reactivity method (CRM), Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS) and Multi-Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectrometer (MAX-DOAS) as tools to probe oxidant chemistry and the budget of reactive compounds in the troposphere. He also focuses on the analysis of long-term measured dataset using these tools to quantify the effect of anthropogenic perturbations (crop residue fires in particular) on the change in reactive pollutant loading and ozone formation potential in the Indo-Gangetic Plain.

Vinod was awarded Best Student Paper by International Journal of Mass Spectrometry for the year 2015.

Dr. Muhammad Zeeshaan Shahid
Post-doc fellow, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Division of Physical Sciences and Engineering
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST)

Dr. Shahid is involved in youth engagement for sustainable development. He has been involved in organizing workshops for College and university students for various aspects of environmental challenges and their possible control alternatives to minimize the impacts on our environment. He served United Nations Environment Program as TUNZA National Youth Advisor for Pakistan and currently serving as Mentor for TUNZA Nation youth Advisor for Asia and the Pacific region for sustainable development in the region.

His research is largely focused on Atmospheric Chemistry, Air Quality and the physical and chemical processes affecting the air quality, particularly in the South Asian Region. Because of the large vulnerable population and the less sophistication of lifestyle in this region, it is the locus of global atmospheric research community. Apart from his good preparation in the fundamentals, he is very skillful in the use of several numerical models for atmospheric research.

Saryu Garg

Ph.D. Scholar, India

Saryu is a Ph.D. scholar in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at IISER Mohali, Punjab, India. She is a Computer Engineer by training, and her work focuses on source- receptor modeling on multiple sites consecutively, for the purpose of identifying major sources of pollutant species (or any chemical species) by the use of in-situ measured wind and ambient concentration data. She is also interested in understanding the factors that influence the Angstrom Exponent (α) of aerosol particles, especially Black carbon, and has published a study that determined the α values of black carbon from different combustion sources and discusses the limitations of using α for source apportionment of black-carbon. This study provides insight into the reasons of variability in the α value of aerosols from similar sources.

Saryu is skilled in operating Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and takes an interest in studying the morphological, physical and chemical characteristics of aerosol particles found over the Indo-Gangetic Plains, to understand the impact of these particles on the climate.

Dr. M. Fahim Ahmad

Senior Meteorologist, Pakistan

Regional Meteorological Centre, Khyber Road, Peshawar

Dr. Fahim completed his Ph.D. in Meteorology from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Nanjing China, in 2015. Presently he is working as Deputy Director/Senior Meteorologist at Regional Meteorological Centre, Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province of Pakistan. His responsibility is to issue weather forecast of KP and adjoining Tribal Areas. His main areas of research/interest are climate variability, Drought variation, and impact of land surface processes on atmospheric conditions. Apart from that, he is also interested in research related to expansion in urban setup and land use/land cover change using satellite remote sensing. He has publications in local and international journals.
